Meta has announced a new project called NotebookLlama, an open-source version of its AI-powered podcast creation system, competing with Google’s recently popular NotebookLM. The project relies on Meta’s own AI models, known as Llama, to do much of the processing. Like NotebookLM, NotebookLlama can generate conversational, podcast-like audio summaries based on text files that are uploaded to it. NotebookLlama first converts text into audio files, such as news articles or blog posts, then adds “drama” and interactions to bring the texts to life before sending them to open text-to-speech models.
