Dubai Harbour, the exceptional waterfront, announced the use of the Pixie Drone robot for the first time in the United Arab Emirates to collect floating marine waste, in an important step that reinforces its commitment to adopting innovative technologies and solutions in the field of environmental preservation.

This floating robot is distinguished by its ability to work in both fresh and salt water, and the ability to clean small spaces and narrow areas that are difficult to reach.

The capacity of the Pixie Drone is about 160 liters of waste, and it can operate in self-driving mode for up to 6 hours at a time. It is equipped with a video camera and remote sensors that operate with optical sensing and ranging (LiDAR) technology, and is distinguished by its ability to sort waste. In various forms, including: organic waste, plastic, glass, metal, paper, cloth, rubber, etc.

The Pixie Drone is a unique, highly efficient technical innovation that will contribute to supporting Dubai Harbour’s efforts to clean the waters and beaches in the United Arab Emirates of waste and dirt. It works using remote control technology, and collects floating waste by searching for and capturing debris on the surface of the water, then placing it in a large collection tank to be disposed of later by other, more environmentally friendly means.
